From Dynamics NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central
Is Dynamics 365 Business Central the same as NAV in the cloud? Should we say goodbye to the NAV name? And what does this mean for the millions of users of the system? We understand well if you have questions.
The world's strongest business solution, Microsoft Dynamics NAV, has undergone a major transformation over the past few years, and from October 2018, Microsoft Dynamics NAV became part of the Dynamics 365 brand and changed its name to Dynamics 365 Business Central. But what does the change really mean and what options does it give you?

Dynamics 365 Business Central is the business solution of the future!
Here's how
What happens when we switch from NAV to Business Central?
When you move from NAV to Dynamics 365 Business Central, you will find that your ERP system integrates more easily with the other systems on the Dynamic 365 platform, i.e. Office 365, sales, marketing and service solutions in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (the new name for CRM), Power BI, and other applications. You’re on the Microsoft Dynamics platform of the future!
You can wave goodbye to major upgrade projects. The company’s adaptations are like extensions outside the core of the system and are far easier to move from one version to the next.
Once you have moved over to Business Central as an on-premises solution, you have taken the first step towards the cloud and a so-called Cloud SaaS licence, i.e. software as a service, where the solution is in the cloud and constantly upgraded.
A difference you’ll experience with regard to licensing is that concurrent users are changed to named users. However, this is unlikely to have much of an economic impact, as Microsoft has launched an attractive conversion offer.
A lot is happening on the user side – for example, and not least, in terms of integration into Office 365, which makes it possible to give quotes, create orders and send invoices without having to enter the ERP system first. Business Central opens in Outlook, where these tasks are performed.
The transition to Business Central also means the ability to gain quick and easy insight into and an overview of KPIs. Power BI is part of the Dynamics 365 platform and can access data from Business Central and present it clearly in graphs and charts, for example. Naturally, you can create your own reports, and everything can be used on any device.
